Why it matters: Sunday’s board is the region’s first session since Friday, when all nine European and all five United States benchmarks we publish closed higher while Asia split three higher and four lower; four of the seven boards that traded today closed higher, led by Cairo and Riyadh. Riyadh’s gain more than recovered Thursday’s 0.46 percent decline, while Cairo added to Thursday’s advance. On today’s board the EGX 30 led at 1.61 percent higher and the ASE Index lagged at 0.32 percent lower; across Friday’s three carried sessions the AEX led at 1.28 percent higher and the Hang Seng lagged at 2.60 percent lower, on our count.
Outlook: Abu Dhabi and Dubai reopen on Monday, when all nine Middle East benchmarks we track trade for the first time this week, and the week’s data calendar is carried in our Week Ahead of 4 to 10 October.
